Onda Scarf or Wrap
From pattern:
The Onda scarf and wrap use a reversible lace cable pattern; while both sides are not identical, they are nearly so. In addition, the columns of faggoting allow the solid areas of fabric to stack neatly, creating a layered effect even when there is only one layer. So when you grab the scarf as you are rushing out the door, just carelessly loop it once or twice around your neck—whatever side ends up facing out will look great!
In the Onda wrap, the same stitch pattern creates a different effect when worn: since the fabric is stretched horizontally as well as vertically, the open areas between the cable panels really show. The buttons, both practical and decorative, can be placed over any cable crossing, and the openings created by cable crosses also serve as buttonholes, meaning you can arrange the wrap in multiple positions before buttoning.
Difficulty
Adventurous beginner/intermediate: skills required include cable knitting (with slightly tricky cable crosses), simple lace knitting, and keeping an accurate row count. Directions are given in both charted and written form.
