Our quick to knit hat takes advantage of the bulky weight and gorgeous colors of Malabrigo Rasta to create a visually interesting pattern while teaching you the basics of stranded colorwork. And trust us, the actual knitting is fairly simple.

1. Hat is worked in rounds from the lower ribbed edge upwards. Decreases are worked at top to shape crown of hat.
2. Stranded colorwork can seem a little scary at first but when you take it one stitch at a time you’ll see how easy it can be to work with more than one color in your knitting. Yarn color is changed for stranded colorwork for the stitches indicated, but no more than 2 yarn colors are used in a single round in this pattern.
3. When working in a stranded colorwork pattern, it is important to be consistent in how you use your different colors. If you hold one color in each hand, make sure they are always in the same hands. If you change colors by dropping one and picking up the next, be sure to always do this in the same manner, ie: picking one color up from under the last. It doesn’t much matter HOW you change colors, just that you always do it the same within the same project.
4. If you start with 2 full skeins of Rasta, you’ll have enough yarn to make 2 hats by swapping Colors A and B.
