One By One
The One By One shawl is an eye catching statement piece comprising a variety of different mosaic patterns. The pattern is designed to be adjustable for different amounts of yarn / size adjustable simply by repeating the series of mosaic patterns as many times as desired. All you need are two contrasting skeins of fingering yarn that have equal yardage and a suitable set of circular needles (see notes on needle size) to start knitting until you run out of yarn.
• The One By One shawl is entirely knit with the slip stitch technique to create a mosaic pattern.
• The shawl is size-adjustable.
• Level: The pattern only uses knit stitches, slipped stitches, kfb increases and k2tog decreases and is suitable for advanced beginners to advanced knitters.
• The pattern contains fully written instructions and charts and can be worked entirely from either option. Reading charts is not necessary!
• The pattern is written in English and in German.
YARN
• The sample is knit with 2 x 100 g Ring-a-Rosie Singles Merino (366 m (400 yds) / 100 g) in two contrasting colours (1 x 100 g skeins of each colour).
• The pattern is size-adjustable and works great for alternative amounts of yarn. You need equal amounts of two contrasting colours (e.g. 2 x 150 g or 2 x 200 g).
• The pattern is best suited for solid colours. Avoid multicoloured or variegated yarns.
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
• 4 mm/US 6 circular needles (or size to achieve gauge), 100 cm/40” cord length
• Needle size is not particularly important as long as you are happy with the gauge.
• Tapestry needles to sew in yarn ends
GAUGE
• 22 - 23 sts in 10 cm/4” before washing
• 17 - 18 sts in 10 cm/4” after washing
• Gauge is not especially important; however, it will affect the yarn usage.
Thank you to all test knitters for your invaluable comments and suggestions  !
