This simple fingering weight beret is worked in 2 gauges for a fun effect. This hat starts out at a tight gauge with fingering weight and small needles, then changes to fingering held double with larger needles in the brioche section. This is an excellent beginner brioche pattern as it’s worked in a single colour in the round with no brioche increases or decreases. When winding yarn for this project keep in mind the yarn is held double in the brioche section so ensure you either have 2 balls, or a center pull cake where you can pull from the center and the outside at the same time. If using kidsilk held along side the main yarn as an alternative, this is not required.

Size: Infant, (Toddler, Child, Adult Small, Adult Large)
Fits head 16”, (17.5”, 19”, 21” 23”)
Materials:
Yarn: Shown- Cascade Yarns Heritage Waves (437 yards/ 100 grams) and Sugar Bush Drizzle (219 yards / 25 grams)
Recommended: 100 grams of fingering weight yarn for solid version, and 50 grams of fingering weight yarn and 25 grams of kidsilk lace for fuzzy version.
Needles: 2. 5mm and 3. 5 mm (16” circs, long circ for magic loop or DPN’s for crown shaping)
Notions: darning needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge: 24 stitches in blocked 2x2 ribbing (with smaller needles).
