This is how I start most of my granny squares these days, although I have also made a bunch of these and then joined them to get the look I wanted as I did here in what became my 2018 State Fair piece when I wanted a certain look that I couldn’t get any other way.

My hope is that this tutorial helps new crocheters get on a path to achieving all of their crochet dreams.
