One Single Afghan
This is a digital PDF crochet pattern that offers instructions how to make a modern colorblock afghan. This is not a finished item.
One Single Afghan is an easy modern make, inspired by the unique texture of the herringbone stitch. The design uses colorblock technique to elevate the simple pattern of the main two stitches. Although it is a large project, it builds up quickly because it uses aran/medium weight yarn with a larger crochet hook, ultimately producing a soft and drapey fabric.
The design uses 5 main colors and one accent color, but you can play with colors as you like to make the design more to your own style. You can also easily adjust the size of your afghan by playing with different weights of yarn and hook sizes, or just by reducing/increasing the foundation chain and/or rows.
The pattern is beginner friendly since it provides a detailed step by step photo and video tutorial of the special stitches used.
The pattern calls for an 8mm crochet hook and aran/medium weight yarn. You’ll need approx. 295 yds or 270 m of yarn in each of 5 different main colors for the big stripes, and 690 yds or 630 m of yarn in an accent color for the mini stripes and border.
Finished afghan as depicted in this digital pattern measures approximately 65” (165 cm) in length and 40” (100 cm) in width (without blocking).
