When I designed this pattern, I wanted to “fix” some of the things that I didn’t like about other pumpkin patterns…

First - I wanted a pumpkin pattern that only used 1 skein of blanket yarn.

Second - I never liked doing that thing where you have to wrap yarn around the outside to make the pumpkin sections…and then you pull the yarn too tight (and it breaks) and you have to start all over. Or…even worse…I didn’t like making numerous pumpkin sections, and then had to sew them together. UGH!!! So, with this pattern, the eight pumpkin sections (and the ridges that divide them) are CROCHETED INTO the pumpkin body as you go…all in one piece.

Third - I wanted a pumpkin stem that had a nice shape, and looked…more organic.

So, with these “fixes”, I hope you enjoy making this pumpkin as much as I do.

The size of the finished pumpkin is 12 inches wide X 10-1/2 inches high (size will vary, depending on the amount of stuffing).

MATERIALS -
1 skein of blanket yarn
Small amount of #4 medium (worsted weight) yarn for the stem and leaf
Sizes N and G crochet hooks
Fiberfill
Stitch Marker
XL and Medium Yarn Needles
