Only Half the Moon Shawl
INTRODUCTION: Only Half the Moon was designed for Unwind Fiber Arts during the Kansas City Yarn Crawl, which happens to be the weekend before the Moon Festival, or Mid-Autumn Festival, in 2021. This is the first year we are celebrating the festival without my grandmother. I named this shawl Only Half the Moon because even though the full Moon will be out, I will still be missing half of it because my grandmother will not physically be here with us. It is both to honor my grandmother and to honor my grief that she is gone. She will probably be celebrating with the spirits in the heavens, gazing at the Moon from close-up while we gaze from afar down here on Earth.
