Opal Hunting
In 2023 we were lucky enough to travel to a small community out in the west of New South Wales Australia, Lightning Ridge to try our hand at opal hunting. We did not come home with millions of dollars’ worth of opal but had such a great dirty and dusty time trying to find them.
We took our caravan and stopped in some amazing places along the way.
Although I was working on plenty of other crochet projects at the time, as my mind relaxed away from my work, I found that there are a few ideas that I have that I would love to share with you all as time allows.
At this time the draft of this blanket was born. It started as a hexagon that grew major wobble problems as it got larger. So I stripped it back and deciphered my scribble and photos I had taken to remake it.
As we do more trips around our great country, I hope that I find more inspiration to share with you.
I hope that you enjoy working this pattern as much as I have enjoyed designing it.
There are photos all through the pattern to assist with making and also video tutorials that are linked in for you aswell
