The Opal Lace Cowl is a great piece for the changing of seasons - from winter to spring, summer to autumn, and in some places, autumn to winter. It’s a great gateway to lace knitting for beginners and advanced knitters alike. This piece has three versions. All of them have a base yarn - worsted weight, heavy worsted, and aran - that is held with mohair. If you do not like mohair, there is an alternative such as brushed suri (alpaca), which is a well-known substitute. You can also choose to go without a second yarn. The resulting fabric won’t be as fuzzy, but the base yarn in all of the options are sturdy enough to make the lace pattern stand out and have the drape required for this cowl. I can’t wait to see what you make!
