Opera Hood with Ermine Border
This crochet hood was featured in Godey’s Magazine in 1858. It is worked in three separate pieces in rows of single and double crochet. The pieces are then sewn together and trimmed in a row of shell stitch.
A knit border in the garter stitch is then sewn onto the hood and embroidered with black to create the illusion of ermine fur. If you do not knit, instructions are given for a crochet border that looks similar.
You can see both the original pattern and my version on the given link.
Enjoy
