Inspired by Shakespeare’s Ophelia - her struggle, mistreatment, and eventual fall. Specifically, the passage describing her singing while slowly sinking into the water.

When down her weedy trophies and herself

Or like a creature native and indued

There are three sizes.

Shawlette - Laceweight - 300 yards. Size 8 beads. 36” wide, 18” deep.

Shawl - Fingering - 460 yards. Size 6 beads. 48” wide, 24” deep.

Wrap - Worsted - 550 yards. Size 2-3 beads. 60” wide, 30” deep.

Two aesthetic options for the shawl, beaded or non-beaded, with corresponding design changes at the beginning. For the beaded version you will need 328 beads of the main color, and 64 beads of the contrasting color, or 392 beads total. The bead weight will vary depending on the sizing you choose.

Two versions of the pattern - one includes charts interspersed with the written instructions. If you are trying to learn how to read charts, this is a good pattern to start with as you can compare the written instructions with the charts side-by-side and row-by-row. The other is only charts with minimal written instructions.

The white shawl is done in Brown Sheep Legacy Lace in the Cream colorway with gold main color beads and red contrasting color beads. The purple shawl is done in Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace in the Lavendula colorway using blue beads.
