Description from pattern
Lined knitting notions bag using Fairisle technique, with contrast central panel intended to exploit the multicoloured Wollmeise yarns, and cabled slipstitch stripes. The bag is gathered into a fold at the top with a cord or ribbon threaded through eyelet holes. It is just big enough to hold a 5.25in/13.5cm crochet hook fitted diagonally, but bag can be lengthened.
Requirements
Yarn: Wollmeise 4ply/fingering, both 80/20 twin or both 100% wool
- Yarn MC: 25g/86yd Wollmeise 4ply semisolid yarn for main colour
- Yarn A: 10g/35yd Wollmeise 4ply multicoloured or contrast yarn for central panel
Needles: straight or circular, to knit flat
- Metric: 2.75mm; UK and Canadian: size 12; US: size 2
Other requirements:
- Light cotton lining fabric approx 12x12in/30x30cm (pure cotton patchwork fabric recommended)
- Interfacing (stiffening fabric, sew-in type) approx 12x12in/30x30cm
- Approx 18in/46cm of ribbon or cord for tying. Plaited/plied yarn could be substituted.
- (Optional:) toggle clasp for cord
- Row counter, cable needle, sewing notions, newspaper to make pattern for lining, iron for pressing lining.
Gauge
Above gauge is for MC yarn after blocking (central panel is tightened into bas-relief).
MC while knitting: 8.5 sts per in/34 sts per 4in/10cm in st st swatch without blocking
