Order of the Garter
Order of the Garter is a very simple top-down, seamless cardigan. It is knit in garter stitch and the I-cord edgings are the only decorations of this minimalistic design. The texture of the garter stitch reminds me of a chain mail.
Upper back part is worked first from shoulders to the underarms, then the stitches of the fronts are picked up from the cast on edges of the back shoulders and fronts are worked to the underarms.
Then the pieces are joined and worked in one piece to the hem.
The stitches of the sleeve caps are picked up around the armholes then they are shaped with short rows.
Sleeves are worked in the round from the underarm to the cuff.
The I-cord edging of the body is worked together with the edging of the front opening as a continuous round resulting rounded corners.
