Play It Again 2024 is an opportunity for knitters to knit my patterns together in Knitting in the Loft starting March 1st. This pattern, along with my others, is being offered at 20% off until March 15, 2024, no coupon code needed. Come join us in the Loft!

The compiled version has now been released. Individual clues are still available for those who might need them.

This shawl is based on an amazing photo of the Pacific Ocean off the Oregon Coast. We will be knitting Shetland Lace stitch patterns that remind me of the sun reflecting off the constantly moving waves of the ocean as they move toward the rocks and hillside of the shore. When completed, we will have a split full-circle shawl, with a knitted on edge, that drapes beautifully over your shoulders. The finished size is 23 inches top-down and 72 inches from tip to tip.

A gradient works very well with this pattern, as does a solid or tonal yarn. Another option would be to knit the body in one color (approximately 500+ yards) and a contrasting color on the edge (approx. 400 yards).

You will need:
900 - 1,000 yards/200 grams fingering weight yarn
US Size 5 and 6/3.75 and 4.0 mm Needles
960 6/0 Seed Beads
1.0 mm or smaller Crochet Hook
Stitch Markers
Tapestry Needle

Gauge: 8 stitches/16 rows per 2 inches stockinette

The first clue (Chart A) will be released Saturday, April 23rd, 2022.

Errata
Cast On and work Chart A with smaller size needles. (This provides strength and stability at the neckline.)
Instructions

  1. 2 - Knit 6 rows, both right side and wrong side, as follows: Row 1. Knit across. Rows 2 – 6. S1, Knit across. You are ready to begin Row 7 of Chart A.

Change to larger size needles at the beginning of Chart B and continue with them until shawl is complete.
