This design is inspired by our Japanese maple, Oregon Sunset, which has been with us for more than 25 years. The rich red leaves are beutiful in the summer and contrast with the hostas, heucheras, and ferns. The brighter red autumn colour is very reliable. This old friend is always there in the background and waits until November to make a statement.

The shawl is worked in one piece from a provisional cast on. This rectangular stole is worked from the centre out and ends with a crochet bindoff. Instructions are also included to do this bindoff with knitting needles only. The size is adjustable in width (to make a scarf version) and in length.

Both charts as well as written are provided. This design is considered intermediate in level of difficulty. There is some patterning on the wrong side rows.

This is the 5th and final design in the “5 Shades of Acer” series.

ERRATA: for the second end, after unpicking the provisional cast, please start with Chart 2 and not chart 3. This has been changed in version rev 0.1 and uploaded.
