On a yoga tour through Morocco, I admired the richly decorated tiles. Some places had a very special magic for me, the sunrise in the desert is just one of them. The desire to capture this magic and create a cozy shawl for cold days was the idea that led to this shawl.

The pattern is created using a technique that results in a look familiar to burnout velvet. I didn’t find any videos or tutorials, but I suspect I didn’t invent it. In these instructions I describe the technique for continental knitting in detail.

Size
220x62cm (smaller possible due to less knitted rows)

Yarn
Normally I write “or an other yarn which gives you reqired gauge” but here i highly recomment the original yarn. Moonlight has a shiny appearance, kid silk matte - this is ideal for knitting this concrete pattern.

1x Moonlight by Featherfin Yarn (50% Merino, 50%Tencel), 800 meters (875 yards) per 100g or 700m
2xKid Silk by Featherfin Yarn (64%Mohair, 36% Silk), 420m (460 yards) per 50g or 700m

For replacing Mohair you can use Suri lace like Suri Flausch by Mme Benoir or cashmere like Cashmere Dreams by Lang Yarns*

Needle / hook
3mm (US 2 ½) cable needle 60cm, with increasing shawl you can switch to a longer one – or a needle which gives you the required gauge.

Inspiration und Aufbau

Normalerweise schreibe ich “oder ein vergleichbares Garn” hier möchte ich eine deutliche Empfehlung für das Originalgarn aussprechen, durch den Glanz des einen und der matten Optik des anderen ist es für den Strickprozess ideal.
