Oriental Odyssey
With its distinctive 2-color block slip-stitch inserts that travel around and through the entire shawl showcasing small garter waves of color, the Oriental Odyssey Shawlette Pattern is a beautiful and unique way to showcase 2 coordinating/contrasting colors of yarn. It is a crescent-shaped shawl knit from the top down using German Short Rows with slip-stitch break rows. The border is knit in slip stitch, but the dominant color is reversed from what was used for the break rows. You will need 250 yards of yarn in 2 different colors for a total of 500 yards to knit this shawl. My finished shawl is slightly over 7 feet long and 14 inches at its center, deepest point. The pattern is written for DK weight yarn, but anything from fingering weight through DK weight will work. Complete written instructions, section row counts, and video help links are included in the pattern.
