Oriental Poppy Mandala is a very detailed 35 page tutorial that has written instructions and 180 images that guide you through 48 rounds of this design. It is worked in overlay crochet technique.

You will need yarn of the same weight in 8 different colours and the hook sized to your yarn. Fine cotton yarn that I used in the example (50g/1.7oz – 170m/185 yds) makes a mandala with the diameter of 30cm/12 inches. Which is perfect for a decorative doily or a placemat. Using heavier yarn will make a nice rug. With my fine cotton yarn I needed less than 20gr of each colour (under 70m/75yards for each colour)
