The arabesque pattern of this stole came from fabulous and mysterious East, fascinating and beckoning.
Since my childhood, I associated the East with delightful aroma of spices, luxurious fabrics and beautiful ornaments. Therefore, I chose for my stole colors of nougat and amber, or may be carnelian, and incorporated the beads of the color of old gold in the knitting.

I invite you to make a stole with steeking. It is worked in the round until the end, forming a tube. The circumference of the tube is equal to the stole width (without the finishing). The length of the tube is equal the length of your stole. The length and the width of the stole may vary depending on the yarn weight and the tension of your knitting.
After completing a tube, a straight line is cut along the center of the steek, and folded hem is worked along all four sides of the stole and hide the cut edges. The steek itself is a group of extra 6-12 stitches that are made for future cutting. The first and the last stitches of a steek are worked with the same color strand (I prefer to use MC), sts between them are worked in a ‘chequerboard’ pattern that allows them to stick better to each other.

Suggested Yarn: I recommend to use 100% sheep wool, 400-500 m/100 g (fingering/socks weight).
You will need yarn of two colors - for background (MC) and for pattern (CC). I don’t think variegated yarn would work well for this project. The intricate pattern will not let you get bored, while the transitions of color sections of variegated yarn can make the result unpredictable and disrupt the rhythm of the pattern.

You want to be absolutely certain that your yarn wouldn’t bleed! Check the color fastness of the yarn with a swatch.

Yarn usage will depend on your knitting tension and on the chosen yarn weight.
I used Knoll Yarns Supersoft NM 11.5/2 and 3.5 mm needles. My stole measures (after blocking) 212 x 70 cm.
4.4 skeins (220g, 1265 m) of each: color 292 Nougat and color 115 Ember.

Difficulty level - moderate.

Skills required - stranded color knitting; picking up sts along edges; working folded hems.

Gauge may vary depending on yarn weight, needles size, and your personal knitting tension.

Needles and Notions: Knitting needles 2.5 - 3.5 mm (double-pointed and circular); spare needles/cables; stitch markers; scissors; 1.75 mm crochet hook; tapestry needle; beads (optional).
I used TOHO # 8 beads, less than 10 g.

Связан палантин по кругу, в виде цилиндра, длина окружности - это ширина (или высота) готового палантина без учета отделки, длина и ширина будет зависеть от вашей плотности вязания и от пряжи. которую вы выберете.
Вяжем со стиками, затем полотно разрезаем и обвязываем каймой по периметру.

Стик - это участок шириной в 6-12 петель, по которому впоследствие будет сделан разрез. На этом участке нити разных цветов чередуются в шахматном порядке для лучшего сцепления друг с другом.

Материалы. В качестве пряжи я рекомендую использовать овечью шерсть без примесей, 400 - 550 метров в 100 гр.
Понадобится пряжа двух цветов: для фона и рисунка. Я не рекомендую использовать для этого паттерна секционноокрашенную пряжу. Узор не даст вам заскучать в процессе вязания, а вот переходы цветовых секций могут сделать результат непредсказуемым и нарушить ритм узора.
Обратите внимание на стойкость окрашивания пряжи!

Расход зависит от вашей плотности вязания и толщины выбранной пряжи.
