A wonderfully quick, mindless project that both keeps the hands busy (thus out of trouble) and manages to end up a thoughtful gift.

The pattern is for a square worked diagonally; have also made these in rectangles. (Am willing to bet that a triangle or pentagon would work as well.)

To hold the corners, I used brass paper fasteners which can be found in most office supply stores. Alternately, one could tack corners together and then decorate the points with beads, buttons or a bit of embroidery.
