Original Doily Design
From the pattern:
This doily is pretty and so simple to make -- it measures 13 inces diameter when finished. Material about 200 yards, size 10 or bedspread weight thread. May be done in colors, if desired, using a pretty yellow for centers of flowers and any desired color for petals, which are done in the last two rds. I used size 9 hook.
A doily in 12 rounds features:
long chain center with sc filled chains
shell in shell
crowns
petals of dtr and clusters of 5 dtr.
Editor’s note: while most of Elizabeth Hiddleson’s doily patterns have at least twice the number of rounds with 3 different types of patterns, this small doily contains many of her standard stitch patterns.
