Crocheted softies tend to be small, but I wanted to make something big enough for little arms to hug. I also wanted something big enough to make accessories for. This polar bear is cute on his own but extra special when you make his star-embroidered hat. He’d be an absolutely lovely heirloom gift for a baby shower. Overall, the pattern is relatively simple and straight forward but leaves you with a stunning finished toy.
The polar bear’s head, body, and legs are all made in one piece. The ears, muzzle, and arms are made separately and sewn on. The hat is made separately, and stars are embroidered on it.
I needed two balls of Lion Brand Color Theory to make the bear, as well as a small amount of contrasting yarn for his hat.
The pattern includes written instructions and five pages of step-by-step images on finishing instructions.
