Oruga
Oruga is a beautiful baby blanket named from the Spanish word for ‘caterpillar’, due to the fuzzy chenille it’s made from. It’s made up of various blocks of lace, seed stitch, and stockinette stitch, to produce an interesting, yet simple-to-knit pattern.
The sample blanket took 5 skeins of Lion Brand Lion Suede in Teal. This yarn is discontinued, however any bulky/super bulky weight yarn that matches gauge will work.
Gauge: 11 sts = 4 in worked in stockinette stitch, using 6 mm needles.
At this gauge, the blanket is approximately 35” x 35”, but the size can easily be modified by changing yarn and needles, or by adding more repeats of the pattern.
NOTE: Due to the particular stitch pattern, this blanket tends to have some ‘torque’ to the finished product. This is normal, and can be helped some by blocking.
