Inspired by the regency cravat style of the same name, this aristocratic little cowl adds flair to any outfit. And just like any true aristocrat it looks at home wherever it finds itself. It lends your woolly winter jumper or fleece an edgy style, or looks smart with a formal coat.

It features an interesting little looped edging to the garter stitch body and is buttoned at the back with 3 buttons so that you don’t have to re-tie your artfully arranged tie.

As an added bonus, this is a super quick knit and uses very small amounts of yarn, making it ideal for stash busting and last minute gifts. My grey sample used just over 80 metres (88 yds) of New Lanark yarn.

Yarns with a majority natural fibre content are recommended for this project to faciliate the blocking of the edge loops.

This is rated as a beginner knit and is completely worked in garter stitch, but does involve some simple increasing and decreasing. A link to a short video tutorial is included to help with working the decorative edge.
