Oslo socks are inspired by the cosy and effortless Scandinavian style. They are knitted from the cuff down with a mixture of stranded colourwork to hold your interest and easy stocking stitch rounds for fast growth. They feature an eye of partridge reinforced heel flap and gusset heel construction.

The pattern include instructions for two sizes:
S-M – EU36-40 / UK4-6.5 – approx. foot length = 22cm / 8.5 inches
L – EU41-44 / UK 7-10 – approx. foot length = 27cm / 10.5 inches

Ankle and foot length can be adjusted by performing more or fewer rounds of stocking stitch before knitting the heel and toe.

The pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters with some prior experience of knitting colourwork.
NOTE: stranded colourwork instructions are given as charts in the pattern.

This pattern can be knitted using 9 inch circular needles, double pointed needles or longer circular needles with the magic loop method - whichever is your preferred sock knitting method. NOTE - specific instructions for these different methods are not given in the pattern.

Needles: 2.25mm 9” circular needles OR 2.25mm larger circular needles for magic loop method OR 2.25mm double pointed needles (or size to meet gauge). NOTE: it can be useful to go up a needle size or two just for the colourwork sections if you find your colourwork tends to knit up too tightly.

Yarn: 1 (size S-M) - 2 (size L) x 50g balls of 4ply sock yarn in main colour.
1 x 50g ball of 4 ply sock yarn in contrast colour.

(Sample socks shown are knitted using Drops Nord 30% polyamide, 25% wool, 45% alpaca yarn in 11 – Rust Mix for main colour and 06 - Dark Grey Mix for contrast colour.)

Notions: Scissors, 3x stitch markers (one different), tapestry needle, tape measure

Tension: 28 stitches and 48 rows for a 10x10cm square in stocking stitch.
