This winter hat is inspired by one of my favourite streets in Toronto. Knit in the round in a two row repeat linen stitch pattern it is a seamless and relaxing knit. It can be worn as either a slouchy beanie or with the brim rolled up for a more fitted look. Since the linen stitch creates a togher fabric I’ve found that blocking my work after helps the flexibility of the garment. The hat can also be customized - for a larger brim more stitches can be cast-on as in multiples of four and increased about 11-15 stitches. Decreases can be worked the same, knitting one less stitch between the decreases on each row. If you are a tight knitter I would recommend switching to a larger size needle when working in the linen stitch.
You’ll need
• Around 150-200 yards of DK weight yarn
• 4.5mm circular needle (16 inch cable)
• 5mm circular needle (optional)
• Stitch Marker
• Tapestry Needle
• 4.5mm DPNs or long circular needle if Magic Loop Method is preferred.
Notes:
• Gauge: 20 stitches by 36 rows = 4” in linen stitch pattern
