A transitional coat with romantic leanings. The Otter Crest Coat shows off intriguing, crisscrossing cables that add to its dreamy quality and keep brisk, chilly mornings at bay. This top-down coat begins with cables that gradually increase through the yoke that cascade downward to create a form-flattering silhouette. The yoke begins over the back of the coat while stitches are added to form the scoop of the front neckline and button bands. The body is then worked flat to the division of the body and sleeves, then small gussets are cast on under the arms and the body continues in one piece to the hem. After the body is finished, the sleeves are knit directly onto the coat and worked in the round. The cuff is made as a strip of the same cable on the button band, which is then grafted onto the sleeve while a rolled edge is picked up from one side and knit down. The standing collar is made of the same cable motif as the button band and cuff, then sewn to the neckline. Buttons and a decorative clasp on the collar finish off the Otter Crest Coat – a perfect knit for cable enthusiasts!
