Ottoman
A large rectangular shawl with diagonal stripes of lace and intarsia - the colorful combination of small motifs and large dramatic stripes is inspired by Turkish textiles.
The sample was knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles with with various colors of Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight yarn which comes in 25g balls.
Gauge: approximately 20 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches/10cm in the stripe pattern
Dimensions after blocking: a slightly skewed rectangle, 72in/183cm x 25in/64cm
MC colors: approximately 5.5 balls of purple FC56 and and 4.5 balls of dark purple FC14, approx. 1150m/1250yds
One ball of MC yarn, 125yds/115m will last for approximately 48 rows of the chart.
Diagonal stripe colors: a full stripe requires approximately 55yds/50m, partial stripes require less.
The stripes in the sample use partial balls of red 93, light pink FC50, bright pink FC22,
turquoise FC34, light green 1280 and dark beige FC64.
There are 87 small intarsia motifs - each motif requires approximately 24in/60cm.
In the sample I used leftovers of the diagonal stripe colors plus the following:
light grey 203, mid grey FC61, natural 202, beige 02, yellow 121, rust 125, light blue 14
