This design brings to mind the mythical “world serpent” Ouroboros, which surrounds the earth, holding its position by biting its own tail.

I like the look of soft, full cowls with gentle draping and interesting texture and after trying several versions of ruched cowls using ripple patterns, this one worked the best on many levels. Adding the multi-color yarn gives it further interest and texture.

This project is easy knitting and goes very quickly because of the simple one-row pattern. There is no looooong edge to sew! There’s a weensy bit of not-too-scary crochet to form two button loops right at the very end. And gauge is not critical - though different gauges might need different amounts of yarn, as with any project.

I’ve included photos of every step, to make it super-clear how things go together.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I’m going to make a few more….
