Outrageous Ridges Scarf
“Outrageous Ridges” is, well…lots of outrageous ridges! A ridged diamond flows from side to side while puckered ridges fill in the open areas. Scalloped borders add texture at each end. The scarf is long ( 105” by 10”) to wear as a single drape or any other manner you might wish.
To get a full length view of the scarf please click your cursor on the picture and that should show entire pic.
Materials needed for this project…. 950 yds, DK weight yarn, I used LB Collection Superwash Merino in the model, every bit of the 3 skeins. #6, 4.0mm knitting needles, 2 cable needles, 1 double pointed needle, and 200 6mm beads (optional).
The scarf is knit in 2 sections and grafted together with the Kitchener Stitch. Adding beads is always optional and this pattern adds beads to both knit and purl stitches, methods are explained. Cabling is done using 2 cables needles for one cable and also explained.
Puckers--------If you haven’t done them, there is a picture tutorial included in instructions. It’s just a matter of picking up purl bumps from rows below and knitting them together with the working stitch. I know, sounds easy…..but it is!
I did wet block the scarf, but no pinning. Just smoothed it out on some towels and let dry.
The pattern is charted only since the pattern repeat is 406 rows. Pattern is repeated 1 1/2 times, with length adjustments explained.
When printing this pattern be sure to use color since some of the charted stitches use color background to show difference.
