Oval Base Bag
Instructions are given for two different sizes. Because this project is worked primarily using four strands of yarn, it works up quite quickly.
The base and the body are worked continuously and do not need to be sewn together. Gauge is not important for this project.
I like to line the bag for color contrast. To line the bag, I buy 1 meter of fabric, which leaves a bit of room for error or to add a pocket. I wrap the yarn around the bag, cutting enough to go around the bag leaving some extra for seaming. I cut off the excess at the bottom, leaving enough to cover the bottom of the bag. I hem the fabric, turn the bag inside out, pin the fabric to the outside of the bag where I want it to go, and hand sew the fabric to the bag along the top edge, down the one side where the fabric ends overlap, and along the bottom to the bag. When this is done, I use an X-Acto knife to cut a button hole, sew around the cut edge to prevent fraying, and sew the button on the opposite end. There may be an easier way to do this, but this has been working for me so far.
Please note that I am still a beginner pattern creator, so please do not hesitate to let me know of any oversights or areas of improvement.
