Oven Door Hand Towels
Tired of having your kitchen hand towel fall off the oven door handle? Me, too. Here’s a handy solution that was popular when I was a teenager.
This pattern was inspired by a set of hand towels inherited from my Mum over 30 years ago. They were made by a friend of hers who is sadly no longer with us. My own set finally wore out, so I was inspired to create my own version.
The woven kitchen towels are readily available, I got mine from the local dollar store, and the yarn was scrap that was on hand. Each purchased towel will make two hanging towels.
Materials:
Woven hand towel
Two large buttons
Scrap yarn, about 30 - 35 yards
Small crochet hook to punch through towel for first row
Larger hook to work the hanger top for the towel
There is an element of machine sewing involved, just to keep the top edge from fraying after it’s cut. It’s not strictly necessary to do so, but I find it makes for a neater edge.
This is my first published crochet pattern, so please, if you find any errors, let me know.
Gauge is not important for this project.
