This is a tiny project which a beginner can enjoy. It is perfect for a young knitter to embellish liberally with buttons, beads or flowers.

Ideal for using up oddments of yarn, it’s also a lovely way to squeeze every last bit of use out of a favourite skein. Garter stitch is perfect for showing off variegated yarn. It’s a better way to admire a little souvenir of luxury yarn than buried in your stash. A precious yarn can elevate a very simple cosy into a tiny luxury present.

The only skills you need are cast on, knit & cast off - including for the flower.

Tension
Don’t worry about tension too much. If you’re concerned, you need 24-25 sts to 10cm/4” over garter stitch using 3.25mm/ US 3 needles or size required to achieve tension. I suggest starting the pattern and then checking after about 10-15 rows.
