Overlook Rug Blanket
The Overlook Rug Blanket is inspired by the famous rug pattern (by designer David Hicks) from the movie “The Shining” by Stephen King. It incorporates linked hexagons in a repeating tear drop design. NOTE THIS PATTERN IS FOR A BLANKET, NOT A RUG.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS: 9 balls of Red Heart Loop-It yarn (3.5 oz/100g (Image shown is the colour ‘Berry Gorgeous’).
SUGGESTED TOOLS: No needles required (finger knitting). Scissors.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 42” x 47” (106.5 cm by 119 cm).
PLEASE NOTE: This pattern will work with any brand of loop yarn, but keep in mind that the size of the loops, and size of the balls/skeins of each brand is different.
Lion Brand Off-The-Hook, Red Heart Loop-It and Alize Puffy (European) yarns can all be used with this pattern as is and will yield a blanket of approximately the same same size.
If you use Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ yarn, the loops are larger, so the blanket will be larger; and because the balls are larger (6.4 oz/180g), only 5-6 balls should be needed.
