Oversized Honeycomb Poncho
We all have some balls of yarn leftover from previous projects. We don’t know what to do with, but never want to throw away! It is time to bust your stash! The Oversized Honeycomb Poncho is knitted using Drops Nepal Aran yarn. Also, I had some Chunky yarn in my stash. To work on a project with different yarn weight is pretty easy. I used Aran weight for Contrast Colours, however I chose Chunky yarn as a Main Colour.
Creativity has no limits, because imagination has no boundaries!
SKILL LEVEL: Beginners.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
• 5 x 50 g balls (450 m or 492 yds) using Venice Chunky 2090 shade yarn.
• 3 x 50 g balls (225 m or 246 yds) Drops Nepal 8038 (Light Olive shade).
• 3 x 50 g (225 m or 246 yds) Drops Nepal 2920 (Orange shade).
• 3 x 50 g (225 m or 246 yds) Drops Nepal 8906 (Forest shade).
• 3 x 50 g (225 m or 246 yds) Drops Nepal 0501 (Light Grey shade).
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension) and yardage.
• 1 Circular needle 6.00 mm x 50 cm (US 10).
• 1 Circular needle 6.00 mm x 80 cm (US 10).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
NB Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches on 10 cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, take a smaller needle size.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
One size: Oversized.
Width (from cuff to cuff): 77 cm/ 30 ½ ins.
GAUGE (Tension): 16 sts and 24 rows = 10 cm (4 ins), measured over honeycomb pattern (garment being washed), using 6.00 mm (US 10) needle or size required to give correct tension. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your garment won’t be size shown.
