I recently made a cover for my new Kindle Paperwhite from scrap yarns I had lying around and thought I’d share the pattern here. The owl is cute but the monochromatic color scheme keeps it looking age appropriate, I hope! By all means, use brighter color combinations, if you’d prefer.

My cover comes out a nice snug fit for my Kindle Paperwhite, which is 4.6” wide, 6.6” long and 0.3” thick, using Hayfield Bonus Aran Tweed (MC) yarn and 4.5mm hook. Please add/remove stitch(es) and/or row(s) to adjust for your yarn, gauge, and the size of your device. While the yarn will stretch a bit, the body piece should be slightly bigger than the device to account for the side seams, and the thickness of the device.

This is a good project for scrap yarns. I used less than 30 g of the MC. For the eyes, beak and wings, you can also use worsted or dk weight yarn. I added a row of bulky-weight fluffy beige yarn (Sonomono Loop by Hamanaka) to the wings for interest, but you can omit that.
