Owl Moon Shawl is a collaboration between independent dyer Morwenna Palmehn from Mosaic Moon yarns, and designer Ann Thomsen.

This is a triangular lace shawl designed especially for Mosaic Moon, fingering weight/sock weight yarns (colourway + 2 trim yarns).

The design was inspired by the Eurasian Eagle-Owl and the silhouette of the Moon (which is also a key element in the Mosaic Moon logo).

When I sat down with pen and paper and started designing this shawl my aim was to make a shawl/design that brings out the beauty in the Mosaic Moon yarns and incorporates both the colourway yarn as well as the two trim yarns (Mosaic Moon yarn sets are mostly available as a colourway + 2 trim yarns). The result is this flowing and wavy pattern/shawl.

It’s been a real pleasure for me to design and knit the Owl Moon Shawl - and I hope it will be a pleasure for you too to knit it.

The pattern contains instructions for a medium size shawl as well as a large size shawl and the instructions are available both as charted and as written instructions.

The stitches that looks like cables in this design are not really cables at all - they are called ‘mock cables’ and they are quite easy to do.
