Oxford
Many moons ago, around this time of year, I sat knitting away feverishly so that I had some stylish knits for when I started university. And I remember hearing stories around the halls about the cardigan or jumper their mum had knitted or the unexpected parcel containing a scarf and hat set hot off their nan’s needles.
And as I started thinking about my autumn collections, I was drawn to capturing that warm, comforting feel of wearing something handmade from home. So I decided to come up with some Aran weight college style scarf designs. And as inspiration for the first five designs, I looked to the universities that mean something to me and mine!
So the first of the collection is Oxford which is a simple, elegant design that uses the Comma stitch (a little pun for all you grammar fans!) to create the repeating textured motif. And if you aren’t a fan of fringing, the scarf also looks amazing without it.
Suitable for knitters of all abilities, it’s a fun, relaxing knit that is a great box set companion.
It can be styled in a number of ways. You can simply wear it straight, flicked over one shoulder or wrapped around the neck.
But whether you knit this accessory for someone you know who is off to university or college, another loved one or just for yourself, this scarf is a fabulous addition to any wardrobe.
Happy knitting!
