OXOX XL
One side of this triangular shawl is adorned by the traditional OXOX-cable, also known as the hugs-and-kisses cable. For extra large hugs and kisses, the cable is worked over more stitches and rows than traditionally. That’s why the shawl is called OXOX XL.

The shawl itself is generous but not overwhelmingly large, and the pattern includes tips for making it larger or smaller. The cable will take some attention, but the stocking stitch with garter ridges next to it is relaxing to knit. Worked in a soft and drapey aran-weight yarn OXOX XL will be finished before you know it. What’s not to love?

Finished measurements
Wingspan approx. 180 cm (71”); and depth approx. 80 cm (31½”) after blocking.

Yarn
4 skeins of Rosy Green Wool ‘Big Merino Hug’ (100% organic merino; 160 m/175 yds/100 g) or a similar aran-weight yarn.
(Sample shawl took 584 m/638 yds/365 g of yarn and is shown in shade 159, Chili.)

Knitting needles
5.5 mm (US 9), or other size to obtain the correct gauge (circular needle recommended because of large number of sts towards end).
6.0 mm (US 10), or one size up from gauge needle for bind-off.

Notions
Cable needle, tapestry needle, 1 ring marker.

Gauge
16 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) in stocking stitch with gauge needle after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial, but differences will affect the yarn quantity needed and the size of the finished shawl.
