The small size can be worked with one skein of sock yarn, the large size will use two skeins of sock yarn. Other weights of yarn can also be used, but may require more yardage. This pattern is also ideal for handspun, just knit on the increase section until you have just over 50% of yarn left, then continue on to the decrease section.
