Knit our Short Sleeved Dress and Sleeveless Dress suitable to fit a child from birth to 7 years old.

Design
The dresses have an easy-to-knit, repeat dotty pattern and a moss stitch hem. The front and back are knitted separately and sewn together. The moss stitch neckband is added by picking up stitches. You then have the option of either short sleeves which are knitted separately and sewn onto the dress or picking up stitches for a moss stitch armhole edge band.

Sizes
The pattern gives instructions for 6 different sizes: 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, 4-5 years and 6-7 years old. To fit chest: 41, 46, 51, 56, 61 and 66 cms or 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 inches.

Yarn
The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the dresses knitted for size 6-12 months using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Dusky Pink (040) for the Short Sleeved Dress and shade Powder (038) for the Sleeveless Dress.

Skill
Intermediate. Written instructions provided.

Tension
22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

Needles
Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
