Paa Skraa scarf
A wonderful medium-sized scarf, where something new is always happening. The pattern changes on every other row and creates the slanted lines. An icord in the center points out the spine of the scarf
The shape is somewhat different from other scarf. It is created with short rows. Short rows, which both create a “neck” on the scarf so that it fits better, but also to create the triangular shape.
The pattern also has instructions for scarves with a different knit/purl pattern in the center and with a straight edge at the top.
The gauge is before wash and blocking. The pattern makes it possible to block the garment quite a lot. It is actually recommended as the pattern stands out more clearly. The size is so large that there is a good tie width without it taking up too much around the neck
The scarf is easy, but you have to count a lot especially at the beginning and you just have to pay attention on every other row
The scarf is originally knitted in Sandnes Alpakka wool - but the testers have knitted in other qualities, where two threads are held together. Its easy to create a bandana with two thin threads and with a smaller gauge
It doesn’t take much yarn. Max 200 meters worsted weight yarn. For the prototypes, there is not much yarn left of the no. 2 skein, but so much left that you don’t have to fear that there is not enough.
