PACIFIC BEANIE
For a long time I have wanted to design a beanie with cables, cables, cables :-) The result is the Pacific Beanie, named after one of the great oceans of the world.
The beanie starts with a ribbing edge and continues into the Pacific pattern with cables and ribbing.
SIZES
There are two sizes of the beanie; S (52-56 cm circumference, knit on 7 mm needles). This fits most children and most adults with smaller head circumference.
And size M-L (56-60 cm circumference, knit on 8 mm needles). Both versions are very stretchy due to the combination of the yarn bases and the patterns used.
MATERIALS
I have used 7 mm needles for the smaller version of the beanie. Those needles are hard to come by in some parts of the world. Use 6.5 mm or 8 mm needles instead but beware that this will change the size a bit.
YARN
The gauge is 14 sts / 20 rows over 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in). I have used a combination of yarn bases from Filcolana; Peruvian Highland Wool (Aran) and glittery Paia (lace). You can choose other bulky yarn bases with similar gauge.
COLOURWAYS
Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool (100 m / 50 g) - Coral (254)
Filcolana Paia (245 m / 25 g) - Peach Shimmer
ALTERNATIVE YARN BASES
Malabrigo Merino Worsted and other worsted or bulky bases can replace the Peruvian Highland Wool.
