This net shopping bag has been designed to pack away into its attached pouch for convenience when it’s not in use. By making the bag with size 10 thread and a large (3.75/US F) hook, the bag uses less thread so it can pack away into a smaller space. However, the cotton thread and net construction mean the bag is also still very strong. The filet bottom provides stability, white the honeycomb body stretches to accommodate a full bag of groceries.

I have designed this bag to be approximately 6” x 12” x 16” (excluding handles), or about the size of a standard US grocery bag. I have included three different handle lengths, with drops of 6”, 12” and 18” depending on whether you prefer to carry a bag in your hand, over your shoulder at your waist, or over your shoulder at your hip.

I have also included a more general description of the pattern if you want to experiment with different weight thread or use a different size hook.
