Padded Cotton Scrubbies
If you cannot find the Cascade Luna Paints (discontinued), you might try Classic Elite “Sprout”, Chunky 100% cotton.
Additional information is included which shows how to help make the bind-off corner of the scrubbie more square (optional), and the two tutorial photos demonstrate this option. Note: The two photo tutorials use two separate colors/skeins (blue & grey) of Classic Elite “Seedling” to help make that scrubbie more like chunky weight, like their “Sprout” Cotton yarn - (more like the thickness of the multicolor scrubbie shown in the first photo).
These all cotton scrubbies are double layered. They have a non-toxic, BPA-free material you can get at Walmart called a “Soap-Saver” (package of two, UPC Code: 0-7518204748-8, in the bar soap section of the Pharmacy area), which you will place either inside of the scrubbie, or on top of it, or you may just want to make the scrubbie without the “soap-saver” at all. For the version where the Soap-Saver is glued on top, you will need to purchase a one ounce tube of Loctite for Vinyl, Plastic and Fabric to permanently glue it down. The Soap-Saver becomes softer and more spongy when wet. The best way to store your scrubbie is to hang it onto a cup hook to help keep it dry when not in use. You can use any of the knitted “holes” of the knitted fabric to hang it onto a cup hook, and it will not sag or stretch (just squeeze out as much water as possible). It is best to keep it dry when not in use. I tried real hard to scratch my non-stick pan with the “soap-saver” material, and it just will not scratch it at all.
