Pádraig Driving Cap
#1 in what is becomming the ‘knothead’ series. This classic, jaunty driving cap was designed as a tribute to Ireland & features a double trinity knot centered across the top over a reverse stst ground. The cap top is knit flat then picked up around the edges & completed in the round, with brim picked-up across the center front as the final step. It is adjustable for a cutom fit & sized for adults. Some hand sewing is required for finishing.
For experienced knitters who like texture, understand the basics of knotwork knitting & are good chart readers.
Gauge is important for a good result on this project, you can use standard worsted weight or ‘heavy worsted weight’ yarn but you absolutely must use the needle size that will give you the 5 st per“x7.5 rows per” gauge, blocked & finished.
(Please excuse the ‘Driving the snakes’ pics, I couldn’t resist the visual pun!)
