Inspired by the iconic houses in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury, this shawl invokes the Victorian Painted Ladies, the cityscape beyond, and stars in the twilight skies. The lace and cable shawl is worked in one piece with the body worked first and the edging, the staircases for the Ladies, knitted on to finish.

Worked in a gorgeous gradient Fresh From the Cauldron colourway of the same name created for Stitches West, the shawl works best with a FFTC gradient or semi-solid.

  • One 3.25 mm (US Size 3) long circular needle: a 100 cm (40 inch) needle is recommended.

  • Basic knitting skills: knit, purl, knit two together (k2tog), slip slip knit (ssk), and yarn over (yo).
