The Painted Stripes Cowl is a very easy, beginner pattern. It uses only chain and slip stitch to complete. A large crochet hook and bulky yarn make this a very quick crochet project that uses only one cake of Lion Brand Mandala Thick and Quick yarn. It is crocheted in the round with the half twist incorporated. Once begun, this pattern is very easy to work. There are no stitches or rounds to count. Work just continues in one large spiral.

This cowl is crocheted in true infinity fashion. It is started by crocheting a chain and connecting it in the round. Slip stitches are used to give it a knit look. After slip stitching the first round, work continues on the opposite side of the foundation chain. This creates the half twist in the cowl. Each round is ultimately worked on both edges of the cowl like a mobius strip. Once started, the work just continues until the yarn is gone.

Link includes instructions for a cowl or an infinity scarf that can be double wrapped to look similar. Both follow the same instructions and use exactly one skein of yarn. The only difference is the length of the starting chain.

Link also includes a step-by-step video tutorial. Anyone can make this cowl!
