Painting Columns Shawl
This top-down shawl is all about crisp clean lines and playful color combinations. The columns are achieved by slipping stitches, so you only work with one color at a time. I used seven colors in my sample, but you can use as many colors as you like to customize the colorful stripes. I-cord edges frame the semi-circular shape for a crisp clean finish.
Finished Measurements
66′′ / 168cm wingspan length, 20′′ / 51cm from CO to BO edge measured along the center. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yarn
Fingering Weight
Yardage
Color A - 80yds / 73m
Color B - 200yds / 183m
Color C - 170yds / 155m
Color D - 310yds / 283m with a single strand of fingering weight or 620yds / 567m with 2 strands lace weight held together
Color E - 220yds / 201m
Color F - 60yds / 55m with a single strand of fingering weight or 120yds / 110m with 2 strands lace weight held together
Color G - 170yds / 155m
To create an extra fluffy effect, use 2 strands of lace weight mohair for colors D & F. I used 430yds / 393m for the small size with 2 strands lace weight held together for this color. So, if you just have one 50g skein of lace weight mohair for color D & F, you should have enough yarn to knit the small size border.
